Hello!

My name is Lisa Gould. All Handmade Shop products are designed and handcrafted in my home studio in Newton Abbot, halfway between the gorgeous south coast of Devon and the stunning scenery of Dartmoor further inland. The surrounding landscape and variety of beautiful colours changing throughout the year provides plenty of inspiration for my designs.

I have been making various crafts for a number of years as a hobby and to give as unique gifts for family and friends. In September 2007 (as I ran out of room to keep all my creations!), I established my business and starting selling at craft fairs and through my web site. I make a variety of lovely things, including jewellery, accessories, stained glass and mosaics.

I began making jewellery with beaded designs and then explored other materials and processes including wirework and handmade paper designs. I like to use a selection of different and unusual materials in my jewellery designs, and love trying out new techniques.

Glass and ceramics are the main materials used in my mosaic and stained glass creations. There is a fantastic array of colours, textures and patterns of glass available to work with, which can make the choice of materials for a project often quite difficult! Unpacking a new delivery of glass is very exciting - seeing how it captures the light and picturing what it will look like in a finished piece is a great way to spend a couple of hours.

My favourite item of jewellery to design and make is earrings - a girl can never have too many pairs of earrings!. At the moment I am enjoying creating my own beads with clay and pairing these with gorgeous Czech glass beads. I am also exploring some new wirework earring designs. You can see my latest creations in the online shop.

I also run jewellery making workshops. So if you fancy having a go yourself, why not book a class to learn a new skill or brush up on your existing knowledge. Courses are fun, relaxed and informal and are suitable for beginners. Further details can be found on the classes page.

Please do get in touch if you have any questions, comments or suggestions - it would be great to hear from you.

Thanks for calling in to my web site, I hope you enjoy your visit!
